Not a well-posed question. There is likely to be some one-officer department where the "chief" is extremely young.

I doubt I would be able to answer the question in any case, but you need to clarify what you are asking in order for it to be meaningful.

There are thousand of agencies in the US, most have less than 18 officers. I'm sure the title chief came along with the title "brother in law" somewhere..

There is a young guy in the ward I work who is a Chief in Arkansas. I think they only have a few officers (maybe 5). He cant be any older than 28......my guess is that he is 25. Good guy, and seems to be really sharp.

Yes, but I think your mom has to sign the permission slip.

You could probably check with the crime commission of each state. They may not call it the crime commission in some states it may be called something else, but each state has a governing body. They usually keep statistics on things like this.

I have been out of Police work for quite a few years. In 1982, I was the youngest Police Chief in the US. I was 27 years old and working at the Healdton, Oklahoma Police Department as the Chief of Police. Worked in Healdton for 2 years then went to Wewoka, Oklahoma as the Chief of Police.
