    Carrying knife in Florida

I've escaped 3 carjackings so far and I'm only 18. What's the largest knife I can legally carry? Do the rules change when it's in a car?

    Thanks a lot.

Young man my best advice is visit you're local police department and ask their desk officer, he or she will have the Florida or local law concerning weapons!
Good Luck but remember better to give up the car then you're life

You can carry a "common pocket knife" by law, without a concealed weapons permit. A common pocket knife can be interpreted as a simple, folding knife, not a 12 inch hunting knife.
You have the right to remain silent, but apparently you lack the skill to exercise that right.

Why do you need a knife, it sounds like you're doing OK without weapons so far.

Who knows how long before my luck runs out.

I have a folding knife with a 3-5/8" blade and it's 5" closed. Will I be okay? Can I leave it on the floor?

    It's one of these.

To the OP what the hell are you doing? Wandering the hood for kicks? I lived in Florida for 29 years and never came close to being car jacked.

During 5 of those years there I was a cop in a pretty bad large city and the majority of car jackings we had reported were drug releated.

The first time I was lost asking directions at a gas station. The second time I was just leaving a supermarket parking lot. The third time I was in the parking lot of advance auto parts. The second and third time I was only 15-20 minutes from my house. I'm not positive it was my car they wanted (all of the incidents happened when I was in or walking to my car), but when some guys block you in with an suv, say they're going to kill you, and one of them goes back to their truck to get the weapon... you don't really want to stick around and find out.

Forget protecting myself my luck is going to run out? Thanks.

What can I legally protect myself with? I prefer not to be a sitting duck or take the bus (wtf?)
