I figured they would be all of the board after the first 2 days.
Me too, I know when I first went into the correction academy, I was all over the board. Maybe they don't like the academy, and they don't want to come and post..

Whats not to like.When i was in the academy i was 7x3 and weekends off and no inmates.
We all been tied up trying to get things together..As far as the academy in my opinion it's great, I can't complain it's what I expected and what I look forward to making a career of. Today was our first day in full recruit uniform and we all look great even though at roll call some was still trying to get themselves together. Some of the squads will be going to rikers tomorrow and wednesday...
Hey Bk,when the companies go to rikers you will start seeing a lot of recruits quit.Rikers can be intimidating and the inmates are going to mess with you once they see those powder blue shirts.You will know on your first trip to rikers whether or not this job is for you.Good luck.
All i can say is it ok, being a little older i can see things before they happen. Do i want to deal with some of the young guys in my company. most have no exp. at a (Real Job) and don't know how to lead but want to be leaders. (just to show off) I can see they will be a pain in the *** and the company will suffer. I for one do not want to become (Company Leader) that's extra work and you get no bonus point's for it or overtime. Learn to think before you talk.
Just came back from a tour of Rose M. Singer jail. It was very interesting. Walkign around witht the imates. Getting the feel of it. Lots of the inmates was rude but some are nice.
I can say that I will love it because I'm an experienced dude. 10 years working with the City of New York from an NYPD Auxiliary Commander, to NYPD School Safety Agent Level II, to Forensic Evidence Specialist from OCME, I say I'm prepared for anything. Many people are young in the academy and some are old, but you never know where anyone of them were in their life where you can't say they won't be able to handle the job. I don't agree with you RTMCqueen. That's just my opinion. We are all there to learn and go forth to serve and when you see someone struggling, you should help them out whether they are young or old, that is what a TEAM player do. Please don't be offended by my comments..Stay safe and best of luck in the Academy... Oh we started off with 197 but today 2 dropped out so now it's 195.

I respect your opinion, "team player" "were they are in there life" i'm talking about "TEAM LEADER" we all are team players and we all help each other but some team players sit on the bench. you lead by example !!!! as capt. say respect the time,

Reason: nothing
Exactly and like I said before if a member is struggling you should help them out whether you're a TEAM LEADER or NOT! That is what a TEAM should do as we all know:
T=Togther
E=Everyone
A=Achieves
M=More
That is what I mean and yes respect the time, like I said I have 10 years with the city so RESPECT MY TIME..THANK YOU....just my personal opinion
About 195, its a big class. time is respected. on to something new. I went to vist the island today. are there more female officers than males????? maybe it was just like that today.

No you're correct there are more female officers than male officers. That was another reason I left corrections.
Thats what the academy instructors want to see.Everybody working together and not each person for their self.Remember,once you hit the jails its you and your partner.You have to communicate with that person.You dont have to like them but for that 8 to 16 hours you have to work with them and help each other out.Team work people.And yes,respect time.Senior officers have seen things and been through things that will make your head spin.They have been through battles.
All the crap you have to buy is crazy Im broke and its week 3 and we haven't got paid yet. Safariland came in to sell us our duty rig and holster. And its getting chilly that means cruiser jacket time. Also must put deposit on graduation uniform soon. Allot of crap... But so far so good I'll tell you what there is a little PT instructor I wont mention his name a little guy with a real tight t shirt that is killing us. I mean hurting us real bad. People almost rang the bell!!!!! LOL Anyway almost time to go back im 4 to 12... Take care guys.
Carl I know what you mean he does work us out like crazy but I can see his method....he's doing it to really prepare us for the island but also alot of his drilling goes into play with the self defense tactics, but damn my legs and arms be killing me too..lol Yeah we got to buy so much stuff, but at least we will see a paycheck this Thursday, but damn we need more money. I am using my savings which is almost gone once I pay for my dress uniform...oh and now we need to get the refer coat on top of that huh
Pauls & NY Police Shop on Metropolitan are all the same and their prices is crazy and bad service (MY OPINION) I deal with F & J in the Bronx who is much better..the guy name Jr is the best....
FYI COBA union for NYCDOC just reached a tentative contract.....top salary will be 72,334(Base) by 2009..it's a 2 year contract...hummm NYPD top is still 59,588. I love NYPD but will stay with DOC for sure now.....oh and it is no longer 5 1/2 years for top pay, it went back to 5 years...
