This is my department's estimate...without any promotions or overtime.

    1-5 year experience = $36k-42k

    5-10 years experience = $42k-$48k

    10-15 years experience = $48k-52k

    and

    15+ = $52k

    Gotta love pay compression.

In san diego the new idiot mayor (a former chief) would like it if the cops paid the city. He is slowly getting his way with all the pay cuts.

    80K base without OT.

The sky is the limit due to the endless amount of OT available. We work 14 days a month, twelve hour shifts.

Some departments in Louisiana only make $1400 a month or even less...there has been several topics on police salaries on here though.

Out of this world. Actually, most retirees leave the state.

As of Sep 1st, my gross pay for 2006 is over $65K, and I'll probably hit $90K. This is only my second full year with the dept, but the cost of living is substantially high here also.

None of us will be buying a mansion and a yacht anytime soon. But it beats digging ditches for a living.....most days.

Why does the gov. pay their keepers of peace so ****ty? You guys should be making a lot of money because

    1. You risk your lives for the good of others
    2. With out you the city wouldn't be safe and
    3. I'm sure the gov. can afford it

And all those people who hate cops they should move to africa and get aids and die

I make less per hour than the kid on the night shift at the local 7-11 in my town. And I kid you not.We were just talking about that the other night. He popped off about how much cops make and he has to give us free drinks while on duty.I told him he didn't have to give me anything I would be more than willing to pay for my fountain soda, but he was really embarrassed when I told him how much my bring home was.He was actualy pretty shocked. He asked me if I needed something to eat also!!LOL!!
