I'm trying not to think about it too much, but I have been slowly gathering my gear and getting things ready. Got some hearing protection yesterday. The good thing is we don't have something we need, it's not like there aren't stores in Fairbanks....lol.

The Academy will issue extremely nice electronic hearing protection. One thing I would recommend is purchasing a pair of chain link handcuffs because the Academy will issue you hinge cuffs. I like both sets but it's good to train using each set to find out what works best for you. You will be doing a ton of handcuffing! Dusty Johnson is an outstanding director complimented by many outstanding instructors. Good Luck!

I knew they'd supply ear protection, but needed some of my own anyway. I may like theirs better, though. Mine are a little tight on the ears. Hadn't even thought about the handcuffs...thanks for the idea.

The flashlight thing was a little confusing. One part of the paperwork says they supply them, and another part says to bring one with a belt carrier. So I'm bringing one....lol.

It's going pretty well. Tons of stuff to remember! Started One-on-One Control Tactics yesterday. Shooting range next week.

Wow, pretty early for control tactics. Jimmerfield still teaching? How many are in the class?

Yes, he is still teaching and his classes are amazing. This week has been great. We have a small class this time...only 11 of us.
