Officer.com has lost one of it's own - Clayton County, Georgia Police Officer killed

This is a very sad day for everyone. One of our forums members, Seann1, was killed in the line of duty. He attended the same academy as I did a couple years after I attended. He graduated the academy in 2011 and had just started with the agency only 4 months ago. I had just corresponded with him through PMs a couple weeks ago. I never knew this Officer in person, but my thoughts are with his loved ones. RIP Sean, we have the watch from here.

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A Clayton County police officer has died in the line of duty after being shot twice on Monday afternoon.

Police identified the officer as Sean Callahan, 24, who has only been with the Clayton County Police Department for four months.

It started behind the Motel 6 on Davidson Parkway in Stockbridge on Monday afternoon.

Police were able to take a man and a woman into custody, but the man began fighting with police, according to Clayton County police Lt. Chris Windley.

The man was able to get away from the officers and ran around the building. He began shooting at the officers and they shot back, fatally wounding him, according to Windley.

During the gunfire, Callahan was shot twice in the head. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where police said he died early Tuesday morning.

Clayton County Police Lieutenant Chris Windley released a statement. It reads, in part:

"A police officer is a job that only a few people have the mental and physical ability to perform. For those few men and women that do have those abilities, it is an honor to be able to put on that uniform. Our job as police officers is to protect and serve. Our job requires us to run to face the danger, no matter what the circumstances. We don't do this job to be seen, we do this job to protect our nation. We do this job because it is something that we love to do. Officer Sean Louis Callahan joined the Clayton County Police Department because he wanted to do something that he loved. Please pray for the Callahan Family, the Clayton County Police Department Family, and the Clayton County Community as we endure the loss of a fallen comrade."

This is the second Clayton County police officer injured on duty in the past week.

Police have not yet identified the suspect who was shot and killed on scene.

The woman involved in the domestic dispute was taken into custody.

Inmates seem really into counting the number of officers it took to take them down. If only their love of math had blossomed earlier.

I didn't want to post until the media released his name, but this is very tragic. He was very excited about his job and proud to be an officer. He was an asset to the department. He is truly going to be missed.

Sad part is he knew how big of a hell hole he worked in and was still trying to make the best of it.

    RIP Sean

Horrible news. This hits way too close to home as Clayton PD is a neighboring agency to me. We train with their guys quite often. RIP Brother... we have the watch from here.
