Georgia State Patrol 93rd Trooper Academy

Has anyone else applied for the 93rd Georgia State Patrol Trooper Academy? I sent my application in last week. I wanted to make this in order for everyone to stay in touch as we make our way through the process.

    Good Luck!

I've also applied. Looking forward to the process. Is there a date for the next class? I think I read July somewhere, but I also saw January on the October 15 press release.

Do you guys know if you just have to mail the state of georgia employment application or do you have to also attach the background packet?

And does anyone know if GSP pays for overtime or you get comp time if you stay over?

Initially, just the state application. I'm holding onto the background packet, but I've already completed it and gathered the required documentation. Some of that stuff is hard to find and/or takes time to get back from various agencies if you're like me and have lived all over.

    Per the website:

    "Can I earn overtime?

Not on a regular basis, however during some unusual occurrence incidents, heavy equipment escorts and Department of Transportation work zones, overtime can be worked."

    Hope that helps.

Hey guys, went to GPSTC today to take the PT assessment. In regards to the background packet, just bring it with you when you go. They said today the school will be starting sometime in late April. They also informed us that they should start on interviews/poly sometime in January after you've done the PT test.

No overtime ever...only comp-time. DOT escorts are considered off-duty work.

The sit ups got the majority of people eliminated and a few on the push ups. As for the run and bench press everyone passed that.

I just completed the polygraph exam yesterday.. Is anyone still on this thread? If so, does anybody have any idea when we would find out if we were accepted to the 93rd Trooper Academy?

I believe the date for the trooper academy is April 17th. I met with the background investigator recently and he said after we go through the pysch test, medical, and the interview we should hear back about two weeks before the class starts.

When they say that they will begin processing applications IMMEDIATELY, does that mean that will start the PT tests before the application deadline in April for the 94th class? Sending in my app tomorrow so I just want to be prepared to spend money to fly out there sometime soon. Also, anyone try the online application? I just did it tonight.

How is law enforcement career market in Georgia? Some states like California and Arizona are ridiculous. In a small agency, it's very common that there are about 200 applicants for three opened slots. I'm willing to work anywhere because I'm a single and geographically flexible. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people applying for law enforcement jobs just for sake of money these days.
