My fault, the officer was not killed but is in critical condition. Either way, awful news. The suspect died at the hospital from gun wounds.

My buddy passed the area around 10:00 on the way to my house. Told me there was police activity, but I really didn't expect this. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

Be safe out there my brothers and sisters!

Pappabacon, Officer Kenyon Youngstrom is still alive. His condition is VERY grave. I am surpised SgtCHP hasn't provided any more details.

I hope he makes it, assuming that the stories of his not surviving are true.

The assailant, who later died at the same hospital, was not identified, pending family notification.
The POS was not identified, but they went ahead and posted the officer's full name and described almost exactly where he lives. Nice reporting.

Thank god you corrected the OP. I live in the Bay Area and one of the managers' son is a cop and he knows the CHP Officer. My prayers to his family and his brothers/sisters.
