You randomly get selected to take the exam.
Then if you pass you randomly get selected from the pool of applicants that passed to take the physical.

If you pass the physical then you have a panel interview. If you pass that then you will get scheduled to begin your background process

To anyone who has done the physical fitness test already-

When performing the sit ups, does someone hold your feet down?

Also- How did you pace your run? Do they yell time elapsed at different intervals?

If no one counts for you how do they know if you meet the required amount of push-ups and sit-ups?

Does anybody know about the credits? I know it says you need it by the panel interview but I recently took the FEMA course just so I can have it and it isn't going to come for about 4-6 weeks. You think the investigator will accept that?

A few of you guys are saying that after you pass the physical fitness test its not a random process anymore but in the email it states that just because you pass any step does not mean you will go on to any of the next steps.

Wow, they must've moved some people along pretty fast. I didn't think anyone from this exam finished all the steps already.

    Hey guys and gals,

I will be taking the physical on Saturday at 8am with a few of you. Just a few questions regarding the test:

1.) For the situps, do they count for you, or how does this work? Does your shoulders need to touch the ground? Do you need to keep your fingers locked behind your head?

2.) For the pushups, do they make you keep your arms and elbows close to your body, or can you use a wide stance?

3.) For the 1.5 mile run, do we run as a group, or as an individual? Can we wear a watch?

There is no such thing as a wide stance for push-ups. Hands shoulder width apart and elbows pointing 45
Degrees, if you flare your elbows out to 90 degrees you look like an idiot and risk shoulder injuries not to mention you're weaker at that position.

as far as the test goes...my friend took it and passed he sad it went like this...Flex test is you bending over and pretty much pushing your palms to the floor..Situps 1 minute the push ups right after. The run in on a shortened track so its 17 laps around

Good Luck everyone! You all were randomly selected to take the test, and passed. Now you were randomly selected to start the process which is a blessing. Many people are going to get knocked out on Saturday. Keep us updated! I'm patiently for the next random selection to take place and hopefully I'm selected. That may not happen until 2014. But anyway... Again Good Luck!!

Just got back from the Physical that was this afternoon. I was happy to see some people were squared away, while others looked like a complete joke. Do they look in the mirror before leaving the house? People had all types of facial hair, gold chains on, earrings, tank tops, v neck shirts on..what are we going to the tiki bar and club after the fit test? haha Pathetic. Some people even brought there girlfriends there to console them after they failed, how cute. Either way, it was easy.

    Panel is scheduled for Sept.

Hope everyone did well on their physical! If not, keep pushing yourself and prepare for your next upcoming physical. Here is an off-topic question:

Did anyone talk to the CUNY Police/Public Safety Officers? I got to the physical extremely early, had some time to kill, and spoke to a few of the CUNY guys. The first two I spoke two did not have a firearm, yet a few who walked passed me did. Are they police officers? peace officers? Some carry? Some dont? I didn't want to be noisy and ask them. Whats the deal?
