    Dinner!

    Is this a joke??

You don't say anything on the radio.
This profession is not for people looking for positive reinforcement from the public. Very often it can be a thankless job and you can't desire accolades, because those are not usually forthcoming. Just do your job to the best of your ability and live with the decisions you've made.

We call it on the radio if we're transporting an inmate to disciplinary housing or the isolation unit. Other than that, no radio calls are needed.

Agreed unless its high class or the bing Whitch would be for example two packages enroute from 2upper to 11 main.

when we escort bing inmates (punitive seg) we must radio to central control 3 packages en route to let's say yard or barbershop. Or If they are getting moved from one housing area to another ie 11 main or annex upper.

Doesn't sound like you are a CO. Sounds like you are trying to 'bust' someone out, just saying...

This person is surely not a CO- and I am stunned to see other hacks answer this question. Eacfacility is different and each situation is different. If this person were a hack he'd know.......

Because if the person asking is a family member, they would know when their loved one was being moved around. All you need is a scanner from Radio Shack and time, you can listen to anyone on the radio...besides if you want to get contraband to your loved one what better way then to listen to a CO on the radio.

Ok, I will spill the beans but on the condition that you treat this as G-19 CLASSIFIED.

The official protocol is as follows:

    1. When moving an inmate from their cell to the chow hall, the CO radios to Control “walking the ducks to the forest”

    2. When moving an inmate from the chow hall to their cell, the CO radios Control “Sham a lama ding dong”

    3. When moving an inmate from their cell to the recreation area, the CO radios Control “I’m a little tea pot, short and stout”

Now here is where it gets complicated. If two CO’s are engaged in the inmate move, they have to modify the above by saying “meow”, but only on Tuesdays. Every third week they have to utter a guttural noise as a replacement for “meow”.

I always said to "Control"...I'm moving "Joe" (or whatever the dirtbag's name was) to (whatever location we are moving to) but later we started using code so KAOS would not know what we were doing...

The new trend in Federal detention facilities is to sing "Gangnam Style" to the best of your ability while walking like the guy in the video when escorting the detainee.

Diver...I'm fairly certain most LEO's are on 800 Mks and/or digitally scrambled therefore not discernable on a Radio Shack scanner.

(That being said, I'll go with the "lama lama ding-dong" thing)!

Every county I know of around here is usually on the old 15X.XXX freqs that their SOs used before they went digital. The jail uses it as it's own freq to keep from cluttering up patrol traffic.

I see what you're saying, but not all agencies are on separate freqs for Jail and Patrol. It's highly unlikely civilians will monitor the jail frequencies...way too boring! Besides, inmates will just call or write their kin and tell them where they're at. lama-lama-ding-dong!
