Anyone been through the process, that can answer a few questions?
U can PM me if privacy or convenience is required.

    thanx in advance.

1)What is the typical length of the hiring process from Exam date through Hire date?

    2)I didn't see a max. age listed...is there any?

3)What's the typical size of an academy class/hiring group?

4)How many academies does this dept. typically hold annually?

So bearcat I saw you say you could expect to make at least two trips.... so I assume it's not possible for mainlanders to get all the testing done in one trip ? I know a lot of departments have the option for out of towners to get all thier testing done in one trip. I was wondering if Honalulu had deal like this. I would love to test but multiple trips to HI would be pretty expensive.

    Hi Bearcat,

If you have the opportunity, can you find out which academy class they are hiring for (timeframe)? The application says the process will take 6-7 months, not sure if that starts 01 MAR or 6 to 7 months after the written test (05 MAY). Thanks!

    Hi guys/girls,

I'm from the area, just joined O.com to see what was available in the LE world outside Hawaii (and put my ear to the ground regarding HPD - curious, I suppose). If anybody needs info regarding Hawaii/Oahu/Honolulu, feel free to PM me.

    Aloha & good luck!

Those are ok if you're really hungry and have no other options. Fresh musubi from Fukuya Deli or Kabuki is a lot better!

Stuff's harder to find than an ABC Market!

If you're having difficulties finding an ABC Store, then you need to head to Waikiki. Once there, you can toss a rock and you'll be bound to hit one. ;-)

If I have the thought of eating that nasty stuff....it means I have booze in my system.

I will skip it and just go to Zippy's and get some Chili/Rice or a plate lunch and be done with it....

Yeah...like down in my 'hood. We've got 2 Korean Markets that will break it off in your *** if you don't walk the 1/2 to an ABC.

I save the walk and go to Safeway......or Longs....
