Since we're in the same department, its your patch too. Its not too far off the actual new patch we're getting, same colors.

Not a rumor, but I thought I would pass this on:

Intoxicated and hysterical gay sailor throws a urine specimen at several officers in the base ER, takes a fighting stance, and gets tased.

The command wants to know if it was justified UOF or if he just got tased because of the urine to the face...

^^^ And it is this kind of jackassery. among many other things, by the PMO commands that makes people abandon MCCLEP in droves.......

It's always difficult to be the police for somebody who doesn't understand what the police do.

This reminds me of some of the discussions I've had with university police officers on smaller campuses. The administration fought to prevent them from being armed, fought to prevent them from enforcing anything other than university system administrative code violations, and can't understand any time circumstances require force to be used.

I think VA police probably have some of the same complaints.

^^ Having been a MCCLEP and now a current V.A. officer, Jeff, I can tell you it really depends on the V.A. you go to. Each V.A. is vastly different in their operations; depending on the layout of the hospital, the size of the department, etc..... Right now I got me a Chief who backs his officers on their cites and arrests, and that really helps. Plus our director here is not anti-L.E., so that helps too...... I know at some other V.A.'s, though, that is sadly not the case.

But I digress......this thread is about MCCLEP.

I'm surprised you haven't made the patch your avatar yet.

Another rumor, there was a noob at PMO in civilian training uniform wearing Lieutenant bars. This could mean one of two things. (1) He was hired from the outside when PMO leadership found out that their hand picked guy couldn't make it. (2) He was visiting.

Fact. Somehow, the retired USMC Colonel/13 year SBCSD Deputy (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong on the particulars) did not qualify for the Deputy Chief position. The current Services Chief with not so much experience got the job (I wonder why).

What is it with the whole DoD 0083 hat thing? It is so dumb...

Like we don't look like/get treated like rent-a-cops enough already.

And not a rumor, but a fact. Two patrolmen, responding off base to a call of a deputy not responding to his radio while at a 5150 call, driving at 80-100 mph to get to him, were punished with suspensions for their excessive speed. Assisting the Sheriff's Department is authorized by our MOU.

Yeah, originally, we had cameras (that looked at the driver and forward), example http://youtu.be/dO-0GLwSa08 I'm not sure who authorized this to be released to Youtube. (please note, this is not how my fellow officers drive, we use a thing called "due regard"). Now, we just have GPS tracking that records your speed, direction of travel and location.

Rumor has it there is a new taser policy coming from HQMC.

You must go hands on, then OC, before using taser.

Seems like if there is a wrong way of doing things, our leadership is going to choose it.

The new Deputy Chief wants to handle more civilian cases in house and not call SBCSD unless a felony has been committed. Last time I checked, we're not allowed to write 1805s for a whole lot of things. Are we not going to allow dependent spouses and other civilians to be arrested if they've committed a crime? I don't understand.

How do we have a deputy chief when we don't have a chief?

And how are we going to handle more civilian cases without the support structure (SAUSA) to do so?

These guys are bad and getting worse...

Yeah, loving the new creds with a blank form on the back. Also, according to the "Deputy" our funding is expected to be cut in half, with no new hires til FY 2013. He said he's looking for civ's to step up. No OT at all now.
