Here are two more links to videos from the tv show COPS that Southland has mimicked. Anyone else catch this?

    1. unmanned car stuck in reverse going in circles

    2. Midget resisting arrest... climbs up pole...

Wow, the minivan chick with a knife who falls on her sword was a COPS call too. I gotta admit, not a bad idea copying the good-for-TV COPS calls. Oh, and $75,000 for the average salary? I know the COL is higher in LA but wow...that's our average Sgt. pay.

The birthday cake incident was also in a New Jersey newspaper. They didn't change anything about it, same kids name and same deal.

When they said $75,000 starting salary my eyes about popped out of my head....... Around here its 29,000 to 33,000 depending on the department.

    I love the show.

Not to get off on a thread about pay but that's about right...for me anyway. I will top out this year at about 75,000 as just a Senior Police Officer (basically a corporal but with no people to supervise). I work for an average suburban town in the Fort Worth area. I started about 4 years ago at about 50,000/yr.

im not for sure where they got that number from. Maybe for newer people. Most P-2's to P-3's with 5 years on or more make around 85-95,000 with no cash overtime pay.

What's unbelievable is that no matter where we work as police officers in these United States, we don't get paid enough to go through what we go through and see what we see. We don't get paid nearly enough!

What's even more unbelievable is that every one of the actors on Southland who pretend to be police officers get paid more than we do to be real police officers.

That was a good article, but why did you put it under season 3 instead of the current season of 4?
