I noticed that my FOID card is going to expire. The website says that the State Police are supposed to send a renewal application "by first class mail" 60 DAYS before expiration. Of course, I never got one.
I checked online for the renewal, but there is only the original application for those applying for a FOID card for the first time.
I sent an email question using the Online FOID Inquiry Form. I waited over a month, and not only did I not receive an answer, I didnt even receive a reply stating that they got my inquiry.
Then I called the customer service phone number... and got a busy signal. Apparently there's only one phone line, no automation, and not even a call-waiting system. I called ten more times... and got a busy signal.
On the ELEVENTH long distance call to Springfield on my cell phone, I got a recording.... saying that my call would be answered in "approximately 42 MINUTES!!!!!" There is no way in hell.
SO, what am I supposed to do? Can I just send in a new application with a photo and $10 and expect them to figure out that I was already issued a FOID and need to renew it???
Mine expired last month. I didn't receive anything. I sent in a whole new application with the $10 a few weeks ago. I thought I heard Quinn was raising the price of the FOID card come the new year?
"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28"
The renewal notice goes to the last address you've updated that FOID has on record. If you've moved from the original address and did not update with FOID then the renewal form is not forwarded by the USPS.
There's only the one form for new/renewal. That's the form that's on the website. http://www.isp.state.il.us/docs/Smar...pplication.pdf
I never received a renewal notice when mine was about to expire. I just sent in the regular application and the $10. It took about a month. I don't believe it matters whether you had a previous ID or not.
Has anyone else heard that the price was going up for the card or know if there is any truth to it? My buddy told me he heard Quinn wanted to raise it a couple hundred $$$.
