That was my first thought, too. Was there not even a job description where you applied?
The only information I can find on the position is a vacancy listing, and a reference in the MDPD Collective Bargaining contract which requires the department to provide Court Support Specialists with a "training class in personal safety and methods of avoiding injury in the performance of their duties" as well as that the department shall issue radios to CSSs for specific assignments determined by the supervisor.
I know that's not much, but its all I can find. Your best bet is to just call HR (305) 375-5099Sheriff: We just take turns being the sheriff. It's real easy. You just hang out here, eat some pie, and get drunk.
Peter Griffin: Wait. Hold on a second. "Pie," "drunk," "the?" You got yourself a sheriff!

I`ve heard numerous facts on exactly what they do. Its a job with MDPD and until i get hired to be a PO with them I want a county job so I can start chipping away at those 25 years.

If it's available... Try to be a PSA (public service aide). Those are those guys who drive the marked cars with the yellow & orange light bars. They handle minor traffic accidents (some times big ones) and parking citations. Good experience if you want to be a PO. You'll already have a county badge ID, county radio (hear & understand how stuff works), be one of the best at doing crash reports & tickets. Ontop of all that you work at one of the stations.

I would apply right now for a PSA, but they arent hiring right now. I suspect that there might be some openings when your academy starts because im sure that a couple old PSA`s will be in there. I just really want a county job before i get hired as a P.O. I havent been assigned a B.I. yet so im sure the end of this year (MPI 110) is my best chance.

Does anyone know if the MDPD CSS position is still open? I have been trying to view the position on the Miami-Dade Jobs site; yet, when I click the part for non-county employees, the window just goes blank.

the outcome was large. if i could guess a number i'd say 185 or more. it was people in their county uniforms there. transit, corrections. i think the psa position will open up before miami dade css opens again. just keep looking everyday. i'm on that county website like it's myspace seriously.
