Baretta
The best TV cop was Baretta because he never had to go to headquarters and he never, ever did reports.
I think his supervisor was that parrot..

I liked Sully from Third Watch. He was an old timer that did the job! Never got too excited, and knew what to do.

Detective Andy Sipowicz NYPD Blue
Edit: Forgot the why.
He went from a Drunk hooker aficionado, who got shot a few times and hemed up for being a racist, to a great well rounded dick. Plus, he says some really funny stuff.

Hands Down TJ Hooker and Hunter.......They never did paper, dirtbag and scum always rolled off of his lips, they could always do a roll before they shot, they never had to reload, they went code 3 to everything, and never ever had to do stupid things like secure a crime scene or interview a witness...and they both worked with hot females!!!

You couldn't ask for a more approachable Sheriff. Plus he put up with Barney, that has to count for something.

Lt. Sam Cole, R.H.D.-LA
Because of the lack of realism, I typically avoided any type of cop show...but Tom Sizemore owned that role

If you own an Eric Astrada trading card, hold on to it, it's probably worth millions as a mis-print

Steve McGarrett, Hawaii Five-0 -- very debonaire with those heavy-pomade brushed up hair (LOL) while fighting the Asian crime lord, the evil Wo Fat. It's one of the few TV reruns I remember watching with my dad in the early 80s.

Agreed 100%. He just was a cop who'd been around the block more times than he cared to count - you could tell that just by looking at him.
