Tbta 2065
Hi, Does anyone here have any updated information regarding the TBTA exam 2065 for BTO. It's taking forever. Are they on a hiring freeze? Last I checked with DCAS they are at 799 but it's been like that for a few months now. Thanks.

Hey Roman, I'm in the 1000 - 1010 range. Do you know if there is a class in progress now? I have been checking DCAS like every other month and the number hasn't changed since last year. What is your list number? I hope they hire more before the list expires in 07. Thanks for the reply. Also does any one know what the PT requirements are for TBTA? Is there a 1.5 mile run, push ups, sit ups, etc... etc.... Thanks in advance.

jmoy i am higher up there in the early 1400's havent heard about any classes i did my year as a temp and got to know a lot of people that work there, as far as pt i heard its really nothing and the academy there is no pt you more of a classroom atmosphere, pretty much the penal code the fire training the toll collecting and the firearms. As far as i know there should be more classes a lot of bto's are retiring and there are sergeant and leutenant exams coming in the near future

you have to be 18 to apply, then you cannot carry a gun. I NY you have to be atleast 21.

Actually even though you are 18, you still do carry your gun like any other officer upon completion of academy and and your probationary period which is a total of 6 months from the date of hire. I was working with a kid that was 19 years old and he was carrying.

Finally got my orientation letter. Anyone know what I should be expecting that day? It will be 4 hours long. Will I be going through a physical, drugtest, and psych on the same day? or is it just a bunch of paperwork? The package didn't give much details. Thanks for any info.

TBTA Officers-Police Officers
TBTA officers are now Police Officers and not peace officers. A few years ago they passed a bill in NY that changed their status from Peace Officers to Police Officers. its pretty much the same bill that is trying to get passed to give NYC Correction Offices Police Officer status rather then their current Peace Officer status.

Sorry salc0025, but TBTA Officers are still classified as Peace Officers. See Criminal Procedure Law, Section 2.10 (20).

Ok so TBTA officers can't execute warrants the job function of peace officers and police officers are pretty much the same.
