I also took test 5046 in Feb. and have completed the medical, the written psych, and the JST. I have the oral psych on the 17th and the meeting with my BI on the 18th of this month. If anybody has gone through these steps could you fill me in a little as to what I should expect?
From what I understand, the oral psych is where most people get put on review. Is this true?

After your psych interview you will have to wait to see if you passed. I was told to contact my investigator the following week for my results. Once you get the good news that you passed all you have to do is attend the scheduled pre-hire/mini-medical. They just have you update any medical or personal information. They will also verify your NY D.L. at this time. Basically if all the paperwork is straight, you will be certified for appointment. Hope it helps.

It's actually called the JST and I know a girl who failed the first time and passed it the second time around so you should be ok. Just run a lil more.. What gave you the most trouble? I know when i went a lot of people couldnt get over the gate....Anyone else finished with the whole process and just waiting on the call.?

Yeah, I'm all done with everything, just 2 more of my references have to call my BI, that'll be done tomorrow and then I'll be good to go. As the time gets closer I start to get a little worried because my credit isn't all that, though my BI keeps telling me that I'm good but hey, i'll have to wait and see like everyone else. Hopefully the phone call will come, can't wait.

Did they tell you guys how much the starting pay is? If so, has it changed. I hope that all of you get the job, but I hope your not trying to find a place to live on that salary, it will be very tough. What is a FST? and what does it consist of?

I think your referring to the JST and that is the physical component of the hiring process, it's sort of like an obstacle course you have to complete in a certain amount of time to be appointed. Yeah the pay is low, 25k per annum, but hey, you get to be a police officer in one of the greatest cities in the world. I'm pretty sure we will be able to survive for the 6 months, it will be difficult thought.

They'll place you anywhere in the city that they need you. The class will be spread out and it won't be by any particular pattern. You may end up in Brooklyn while a guy from Brooklyn will be patrolling Washington Heights. This is not necessarily a bad thing as it's not great to run into guys you've locked up in your local supermarket.
