Editorial on Rochester

OK, a week or so ago an officer here shot and killed a mental. I just read this retarded editorial and just had to post it.

http://www.democratandchronicle.com/...4/1040/OPINION

Police and writers, be more humane

This is in response to the letter by Michael Washington published March 8: First of all, no one deserves to be shot down in her home, in front of her husband and daughter.

Secondly, anyone who comes at a police officer, with any intent on committing harm, has to have some mental instability. That's a given.

No one in their right mind attacks an armed individual, especially a police officer. There were plenty of options in that situation. Taser gun, pepper spray and even a night stick could be used to disarm a knife-wielding individual. I always read about those options being used when the assailant is a non-minority. That letter was downright cruel, inhuman and uncompassionate. It made my stomach turn. Would you still feel that way if it were your mother, sister, or aunt?

I'd like to comment, but without having read the letter by Michael Washington that is reffered to, I'd better not.

I don't enjoy the taste of my own feet. I know that because they have been in my mouth plenty of times.

found the orginal letter for everyone:

Mixed messages on cop safety

At a time when we mourn the loss of a state trooper who died tragically in the line of duty, some members of the public find reason to condemn a Rochester police officer who defended himself against a knife-wielding assailant. It happens every time a police officer has to use deadly physical force in the line of duty.

One complainer suggested that the officer shoot at the feet. Was the knife-wielding assailant aiming at the officer's feet? No. The officer used exactly the amount of force necessary under the circumstances.

There should be no misunderstanding

Thnaks ChrisG

There was nothing mean-spirited in the letter, no montion of the mental health challenges of this person. I would find it hard to argue with anything he said.
