hiring departments around the state

I've been looking up police departments around the state, but some websites are lacking, so I turn to the forums.

1. Who has the best pay/retirement/benefits? (I know this is a relative question)

2. What larger departments have their own academy?

3. What departments have monthly hiring drives?

Thanks a lot.

I live in Ohio, I am looking to move down south (aroung the ATL) to become a police officer. I do look around Ohio since it's a shorter drive , but honestly besides Columbus, Cincinnati, and the state patrol jobs aren't readily availible. Cincinnati is hiring right now, and I think the OSP is always hiring. Compared to other states the hiring process here are long and very thorough. Where abouts are you looking to work? If I had to try and answer your questions with one department I would tell you to look into the Ohio State Patrol, just my two cents.

I live midway between columbus and cleveland and my wife wants to be close to her family. So nothing south of columbus. I looked at OSHP, and need to go home (I'm in Iraq right now) and take the written test, then we'll see. I'm out of the Marines in June, so I'll start the process then. I saw the cinci ad, but it's too far south. Columbus would work though. Where is cleveland and akron in all of this? Thanks
