White Plains PD

Hey all! I took the test in december. Is there anyone else that took the exam out there? Or maybe someone thats on the job that can leak some info on the job?

I took the same exam as you, just not for White Plains.

White plains PD give residents prefrence over non-residence. very hard to get hired if not a resident of the city.

Seems to be the case for many departments these days, save the large cities.

Can't say I blame them, it's a good idea. I'm just jealous I don't live in certain areas sometimes.

I think resident prefernce is a stupid rule. overlooking good prospects outside your city/town/whatever.

I generally think it's a good idea, but that's because I got burned by getting hired by a small town department 200 miles from my home.

I got such a hard time for not being a "local" when I started there. See, the personnel department loved getting out-of-towners to work there, but the actual department only wanted locals. It's no secret that outsiders were "forced out," like myself and the other out-of-towner I was hired with.
