Background to Academy

What is the average time it takes a person to go from Background Check to Academy in the LAPD? Also, after patrol how soon can one get promoted? I've passed the written and PQE and am going in for my PAT and background in the next couple weeks.

Thanks in advance.

It's pretty relative to where and how many places you've lived, ect. LAPD usually is longer than the other departments though.

Here is some study material for you from when I went through a SoCal academy.

Passed the PAT today...onto the background investigation. How does the BI work? Do they call friends, neighbors etc. or do they ask them to fill something out?
