monroe sheriff

the monroe county sheriff predicts metro police will happen because the depts in monroe county will face increasing financial pressure. consolidation is going to happen it already has begun according to the sheriff.

no time frame predicted but

some of the smaller depts in the county that may be gone soon from what i see are

Gates PD and
Brockport village PD.

gates has major budget challenges now that kodak is gone and the cold reality sets in that noone is coming to rochester tech park.

brockport has already debated ending their pd.

as costs rise and more and more population leaves
fairport and east rochester will face the same debate.

Yes I recall reading that article in the paper this moring. Consolidation is what yoy are going to see everywhere with changing times. Look at the court security issue. I do know that the sheriff is confident that road patrol services will still exist.

Doesn't Brockport only have 2 shifts? I think they only have a 1st and 3rd platoon, with MCSO covering 2nd. Or maybe it was just something they were proposing that never took off, I can't remember now.

Been awhile since I've been to Rochester.

last i was aware of brockport had all 3 shifts but the future of the dept is being debated.

the costs are going to send these small depts to the history books I think.

ala wheatland PD remeber them? lol.

the town of gates is having a very hard time without the tax money from kodak coming in. those empty buildings in tech park do them little good.

have no idea when but gates will be one of the depts that fades away do to costs . ogden PD probably not far behind

sadly I do not see any turn around for western NY the politians talk smoke then raise their pay.

people and jobs are going to keep leaving the area - gosh soon monroe county is going to become the geriatic patrol like south florida the only ones left will be the senior citizens who do not want to leave.
