Seat Belt Extenders
I moved this from a previous thread about disabling the seat belt warning chime.
Does anyone's agency have a written policy or provide seat belt extenders for their officers? Any problems with them? Any opinions would be great - thanks.
Not my car before you ask!

Seat belt extenders are in almost all of our cars. They keep the seat belt from getting hung up on your sam browne, and also keep the stupid belt minder chime from dinging. They are FREE at any Ford dealer. When we get new cars, I go to the dealer (any one closest to me), and get a box of 20....FREE. It's not just free for cops, they are free, per ADA requirements.

Are they the rigid kind or loose material?

Common misconception. They are free out of the kindness of the good Motor Company's hearts, not due to legal requirements.
Some manufacturers only offer them for sale, and a few don't make, sell, or recommend them for their vehicles at all.

Ok, well at least Ford gives them away (at this point in time), so get 'em while they are free!! Sorry about the misconception...

I have one. I like where the buckle is with the extender. I have to dig for it otherwise.

On a side note, the vehicle manual tells how to permanently disable the beltminder. A most handy feature for when you're creeping up close to a scene with the lights out and the belt off.

I wear them in my car. They cut out the bell and they make it easier to get out of the car. The buckle is more or less in front of your belt and not buried under your holster.

OK, so we finally got some, but they are like the airline version - cloth with 2 clips.
What I was really looking for was the one like in the picture above where the fabric is in a plastic case or something..umm..rigid instead of ...umm... soft.
Any ideas (spare me the ED jokes)
