Hoover (AL) PD Add Porsche 911 to Fleet

The Hoover Police Department this afternoon publicly unveiled the newest car added to its fleet -- a sleek Porsche 911. The high-performance German luxury sports car was seized two years ago following a traffic stop on Interstate 20 where Hoover police found 10 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside two compartments.

The 2001 Porsche has been detailed and painted to reflect the department's silver and blue colors. On the car, are the words SEIZED and 911 Never Forget, reflecting the emergency call number and also the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Chief Nick Derzis said the Porsche will be taken to schools and special events.

"There is so much dramatization of drug dealers, fast colors, money," Derzis said. "I think this is the perfect result that you will see, if you're doing something like that and we can prove it, we can seize your automobile as this Porsche has been seized."

Derzis said the car, which has a top speed of 185 mph, is the nicest one they have seized. Usually, the other cars are dilapidated, he said.

I was gonna say helicopter and the radios. That'd be awesome to see someone in that car pursuing a drug dealer or something.
