Police Officer Entrance Exams are to be held January 12, 2002!! Applications must be submitted by December 28th, 2001.

East Hartford is a demographically diverse community with a population of about 49,000 in an urban/suburban environment. Our Police Department of sworn officers and civilians plays a vital role in keeping the Town a good place to live, work, and raise a family.

To qualify you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old as of January 2001, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and be a non-smoker. Experience or education in some phase of law enforcement or criminal justice will be very helpful. Motivation, enthusiasm, and commitment to the community are mandatory. Currently certified Police Officers are encouraged to apply.

State of CT Police Officer Standards and Training Council Requirements
• 21 Years of age
• US Citizen
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid M/V Drivers License
• Vision correctable to 20/20
• Validated written entry examination
• Physical Agility Test
• Oral Board examination including at least on Police Officer
• Polygraph Exam
• FingerPrint and Criminal Background Check:
No Felony or A/B Misdemeanor Convictions
No Domestic Violence Convictions
• Drug Test must be negative
• Psychological Profile Test
• Physical Fitness Exam (Lateral/Comparative)
• Successful Applicants will be required to pass 17 week certification training program at the Municipal Police Training Council (MPTC) Meriden, CT.
