Nyc Pd Question - Dirovce, Bankruptcy

Hello,

So I am interested in taking the NYPD test in October. I am currently at the end of a nasty divorce, and am in the middle of filing for bankruptcy (not to make excuses because I take the blame, but EVERYTHING was in my name and had no other choice since the ex would not pony up any $ to continue to pay on her half of the debt).

So my question is does this screw me out of the NYPD? I know they look at your credit, and bad credit is obviously a deturant. Just curious what my chances would be, thanks.

Are you sure bankruptcy is the true answer?

What about debt consolidation? As long as you can show to the nypd that you are making payments, you should be fine. If you go bankrupt, they see it as a big hole.

Just so you know, they may be contacting your (ex)spouse as well.

Some dept consolidation firms give a free review of your dept load and say if they can help or if Chap 7 is the way to go...

I first thought you were talking about a department consolidation, but I think you mean debt consolidation :p
