I am going to get a Para Ordnance LDA .40 for T&E with our department. I have carried a single action in the past (Colt) but my new department says we have to have a double action. I am looking for any feedback on law enforcement officers who are using the PO. Either the single action or the LDA, regardless of caliber. I appreciate any comments.
Be Safe.

I tried the Para in the .45 LDA model the other day. I was impressed. The double action trigger is very smooth and fairly short compared to most double action autos.
I beleive its the best of both worlds.
For those that were either scared of carrying cocked and locked or simply lacked the training, it seems lie a pretty well engineered compromise. Now you can safely carry a round chambered with the hammer down.
There is only one problem with it that I can see...I dont own one ! But I will I think... :D

I remember my father carrying a 1911 on duty, someone took acception to the weapon being "Cocked." You know......the hammer was back and people didn't like seeing that. If you can get the same frame that works as DA Only......more power to you. I personally love th 1911 frame.

I saw a single-action Para Ordinance at a gun show about 7 years ago and I never forgot it. I've wanted one ever since, but we're not allowed to carry single-action pistols. Mmmmm, I'm tempted to buy a double-action Para Ordinance....
What is their price range?

Done! :D
My ParaOrd P16-40 Ltd (.40cal full size 1911 with all the goodies) was originally bought as a IPSC/IDPA gun, but has since been appropriated as Mrs Bonk's house gun. I have also qualified to carry it off-duty but don't do so too much.
How do I like it? It's an excellent gun. Perfectly reliable (after 1100 rounds), exceptionally accurate, and really easy to shoot. My only beef is that you really need a hammer to get it back together, which is probably brought on by the tight fitting that makes it so accurate.
If you are going to get a high-cap PO on your own terms (not LEO dept purchase), do so soon. I have heard that the high-cap magazines, particularly in .40, are starting to dry up.

I do not like the LDA para Ord guns.
I had a compact model that broke after 250 rounds and took para ordinance 6 weeks to send back, whne they did it had a new slide that was mismatched in color from the frame.
the problem was the trigger bar kept coming off during recoil making the gun a one shooter.
Another cop from a surrounding agency had the same problem. Whne my gun was fixed for the second time I sold it to a gun shop. The single action Paras I have shoot all worked flawlessly.
