Is surplus NATO 9mm ammuntion any good in a Glock 17? I am afraid of having feed problems. I know it's a Glock, but I think misfires and misfeeds are a pain.
In addition, how good is the "waterproofing" on the cartridges. I am interested in using it underwater once I get the maritime firing pin spring cup and appropriate training.

It's fine. NATO 9 mm ammo is designed to be fired in a wide range of NATO firearms, including such weapons as the M9, M10 and the Glock 17. You'll be fine.
Uniformity or interchangability of 9 mm ammo is much better than that of 5.56 ammo.

9mm NATO (designated M882 ball) should be fine in your Glock. This is, however, a relatively hot load, producing pressures higher than SAAMI standards. If I recall correctly it fires a 124 grain projectile somewhere in the neighborhood of 1150-1200 FPS. Don't hold me to this, because I don't recall the exact figures. The ammo will be fine in your Glock though. Hell, if those Berettas can stand up to it.... http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif

The Glock was designed for the Austrian Military ( and I believe they are NATO members), so the NATO 9mm round should be NOOOOO problem http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

As a general rule most Nato ammo is made to fire at pressures higher than SAAMI standards. Or to put it short, Nato rounds are usually hot rounds. As mentioned this is due to the wide variety of NATO firearms ensuring proper function. My own experience with NATO rounds in the civilian market was that our department had recently purchased some steel targets that were to stand up to rounds chambered in 300 Win Mag. Well some Nato .223 rounds fired out of my AR-15 sliced through the targets like a hot knife through butter. Egyptian surplus.
Not all Nato rounds come in the traditional plain box. I believe its Black Hills that packages Nato surplus rounds in their own box. Nato rounds should be marked on the base with a circle with a cross in it.
By the way the targets were replaced by the company free of charge.
