Has anyone else had a chance to watch this blatantly anti-gun show about the new chief of police in Washington, D.C.?

In one scene during tonights episode, an investigator tells the chief, "At gun shows, you can walk in, buy a gun, walk out. No I.D." Ok, yeah, if two private citizens do that.

Another quote from the chief (played by Craig T. Nelson, that wonderful font of acting from "Coach"): "How did the Congressman vote on the gun-show I.D. bill?" Hmm...think they have a thing about gunshows?

And my favorite, when the investigator "recovers" a stolen firearm, he carries it into the chief's office, unwraps it, and shows the chief. He tells the chief that it's a "Browning Automatic Rifle, a World War II machine gun." He mentions that it was stolen from a home in Virginia. "Why do people have things like that in their homes?" the chief wonders out loud. "What kind of war are they fighting in their heads?"

So, let me get this straight? Only someone who is mentally ill would own such a firearm? A person who is very interested in World War II militaria would not own such a thing? A gun enthusiast wouldn't want such a piece of history?

I don't understand all this. I am sane. I have never hurt anyone, nor do I plan to. I have a wife and five month old son. But I'd love to have an original WWII BAR! Why? Just because! To own a piece of history, one of the weapons that helped keep us and untold millions of Europeans free would be an incredible experience!

What do you think?

Not to flame, since I love guns too, but theres a section now that specifically covers gun issues, perhaps you could post this there.

1236 has a point. I am moving this to the Gun Control forum, since it deals more with that issue rather than the show itself.

My $0.02 is that it is right up there with West Wing. The only difference is that WW is actually well-acted.

Well, I hadn't actually meant this to be a post about gun control, but if the shoe fits.....

Anyway, the show, regardless of its agenda, just plain sucks big wind.
