I'm specifically looking for SES in the FCIP program that have converted to career after spending 2 years with no guarantee. What was the 2 years like not knowing if you will have a job later? Or did you even worry about it? The only SES I've spoken with is currently in the process for another position in DHS after only about a year on board as SES. I'm leary about the FCIP in general. I have job security now but, I don't like what I am doing. I'm not one to settle.

ive applied for ses an im waiting right now..
every job hAS A probation period, with feds its a year..
you will have super job security and there is room for movement within..

the only negative side , is no retirement pention i think.

All SES are FCIP for two years. If Fed. needs you after two years you become permanent. Although not law enforcement, you do get a pension at retirement.

I'm looking for anyone that is SES that has gone through the FCIP recently.

FCIP(Federal Career Intern Program) 2 years long in the excepted service. You get a Federal pension when you retire.

I'm waiting for my BI to clear. I've filled out the FCIP paperwork for SES. My Timeline:

2-19-08 Initial App.
05-8-08 Phone Interview
6-20-08 TO to AZ.
6-27-08 Whiz Quiz
6-30-08 Received BI Packet
07-2-08 Sent BI Packet
8-18-08 Met with BI
8-19-08 LOA to TX.
8-21-08 Emailed FCIP paperwork
8-27-08 Canceled TO to TX.
09-2-08 Waiting for EOD to AZ.

Is Tucson really as nice as everyone says? Is In-N-Out Burger there yet? Looking forward to Weinerschnitzel.

I guess there is not too many SES in the states or they don't like to discuss their job. I know there is quite a few around the country. How do you like your job after 6 months?

I'd venture to say that in some places there are 12 on a shift..
