It's never a good idea to make a trooper, retired or not, angry ;)

Anyway, car9cop do tell us how your experience is going when you have the time.

just wanting input on "how much it sucks", from a seasoned veteran officer making a statement like that, as to it relating to living conditions, training schedule, training instructors etc. The last trooper I broke in, is a Lt on the academy staff, and I would gladly pass this info on to him. We try hard to make our guests comfortable :)

I logged in today to look for an update on Car9 and how he's doing. I'm sure with trying to keep his notebook up to date and seeing family, his internet time on the weekend is surely minimal, hopefully he can get us an update to let us know he's doing fine.

I went through the basic class in Fall 2006. I hated it for the first couple of weeks, but looking back, I know there is no better place I could have trained at. I think I was very well prepared for my FTO program when I graduated and the "habits" I picked up in Columbus are hard to break (that's a good thing if you're wondering). Everything was tough, but it was for a reason and I'm thankful for that!

Thank you for the grammar correction Webster. Just so you know, capital letters are used at the beginning of a sentence.

Yes, my mistake but at my age that happens, the only reason I even mentioned it was because you use that word improperly every time you type it. Good luck in your LEO career, if and when you ever get there, and even more so, last long enough to retire. Also it is a good idea for you to keep running upstairs to find out when you will begin the academy, maybe it will save them the money to notify you by mail. Do you wash their cruisers for them?

So you looked at everything I have ever typed just so you could come up with some kind of immature response to what I said? Sounds to me like you need to get a life and stop blaming your mistakes on being old. I was just busting balls to begin with, so stop your crying and get over it old man.

Guys, guys, guys. Can't we all just get along? lol

In regards to Car9... I'm sure he's enjoying himself. I'm actually being truthful with that statement too. I heard they're taking it pretty easy on the basics than in years past (less yelling, games, etc). Something about retention rates... don't want to scare the little basics away before they even hit the road. Haven't witnessed it myself, however I think it would be a true shame if the rumors are true. If you can't handle the yelling and games in the academy, you'll never make it on the road. Better to second guess yourself and find out its not for you while there... not when it really counts.

Youngman, I'd say you just failed what we police officers say, "the attitude test". Who are you to come off with such a smart *** remark to someone who has worked the street (I guess troopers say, road) and you're still wet behind the ears? With your attitude I hope you never get hired to protect and serve. I could just imagine how you'd treat an elderly person in need of help. If you don't like my response...tough. Grow up and act like a responsible man, not just some wise-cracking student. And by the way, the recruiters will pick up on your negative attitude through the interview process. It's designed to weed out the undesirable applicants like yourself. Find another line of work.

CPD7279, you called it . Didn't take long for the ATTITUDE to surface. It really doesn't take long for these types to surface, nor weed out. Thank you CPD7279 and for all uniformed officers no matter what department, stay safe and go home after the shift is over.

He corrected my spelling, so I corrected his use of capital letters. He then got an ATTITUDE with me and made a smart *** remark about me washing their cruzers. I was just responding to his remark. If I hurt his feelings then I'm sorry for that. If the guy can dish out criticism on here but cant take it, then he shouldn't be on here in the first place. He should also take care of his own grammatical mistakes before he goes correcting other people's.

I've seen your kind before...in fact, I'll bet you cop an attitude with cops in general. Sure, you say you want to be one, but the truth be known, deep down you have some jealousy and resentment towards police officers. It's a profession you can only dream about, but will never be able to obtain. Besides, why are you on a forum for cops only. I know the moderators don't police the questions from non-police members, so I'll have to personally add you to my IL (Ignore List). I'm done with you. Oh one final thing. Maybe you should consider being a Park Ranger in the metro park system. This way you could talk to the animals and have little to no personal contact with the public.

Come on man where's your maturity level. Doesn't a "seasoned officer" like your self have something better to be doing then sitting on a public forums web site trying to start an argument with someone you don't even know? You just gave a perfect example of what's wrong with a lot of LEO's. Ex...You think that just because your some kind of "Big Bad" CPD officer that it makes you better than someone who decided to become a park ranger. Well your not, so get off you high horse and put your ego in check. It didn't take much to get that typical arrogant ATTITUDE in you to show.

I was just busting ball's about the 12 senior OSP officers that got caught using cheat sheets on a test the other day. He even laughed it off, until I corrected him back on something. Then he got all pisy with me.

Hey, missPO - that picture of yours, is that the view from the bottom of a ditch (guys, it is an inside joke, no worries). That's too bad to hear the academy has changed. Hopefully it isn't true, but if it is, maybe they'll go back to the way it should be.

Mikol, are you making all these errors on purpose now? I sure hope so.
There are 2 in your last post.

Trooperden, you made me laugh so hard with, "...if and when..." I heard that so much while at the OSP academy. It makes me smile each time I hear it still today. Good times, good times.

Can Car9Cop have his thread back now?

CPD7297 can be here because he's served his community for 25+ years and has experience that young officers such as myself can pull from. Unlike you, he had the courage, honor, and sense of selflessness to patrol areas that you wouldn't fathom going through at night. His comment about joining the Park Rangers was not an insult to that profession, he just doesn't want ignorant people such as yourself having contact with citizens.
There is one lesson you need to learn quickly if you want to even have a prayer in our profession: Never hesitate to exercise your right to shut your mouth. I've been on for just over a year and any time I'm on a run with a senior officer I shut my trap and let them take over. I'm not foolish enough to think that I know everything and understand that I have a TON of things to learn.
You would be wise to check your attitude at the door here. There are thousands of officers on this site that would bend over backwards to help you out. Those same officers might be the ones who save your *** one day down the line if you're lucky enough to join these ranks.

Best of luck to you in getting hired. I think you may have some maturing to do, though.
