Greetings all,

Which area do you think the money from the NRA, GOA, etc is best spent.
In changing public opinion of gun ownership or in lobbying legislators?

I would personally like to see more towards public education on why we need gun ownership. The argument that it is a constitutional right is wearing thin with most people, I believe we need to emphasize the constitutional right AND other reasons, if we are to win in the long run.
IMHO, we are losing greatly in the media war to HCI and other anit-gun organizations. If the public opinion continues to slide towards more gun control, then all the lobbying in the world won't help us.
Just my 2 cents.

Best wishes,
Mikey

G30man:

I agree completely. I think we need better presentation of the facts that contradict the falsehoods presented by the antigun crew, and, more importantly, reminders of the fact that when we take away the freedoms that others hold dear, we establish a precedent that allows others to take away the freedoms we hold dear.

Monty

It's kind of tough to get the truth out when the media is so anti-gun. http://www.officer.com/ubb/frown.gif

If the money is spent on lobbying, the NRA will be accused of buying votes.
Better presentation of facts will be the way to go; the anti's seem to thrive on facts ,from some of the liberal boards I drop in on that discuss the gun issue.
The down side is that there are facts for both sides; anti's will tend to clutch onto anti facts like a drowning person and ignore the pro-gun facts.
We do need a better presentation of gun ownership overall in society. We need to show positive role models to youth, who are themselves being denied a positive exposure to guns by the ending of marksmanship programs in schools and youth organizations.
It's to the point now where gun ownership is being treated on the same level as child molestation,a shameful topic not brought up in polite conversation. Thats just wrong.
