Boston-area schools reopening with a police presence
Police uniforms will greet students in the Boston suburbs
upon their return to class. In a move echoed across the
U.S., federal money is being used to put armed, uniformed
officers in schools full-time. (9/4/00)

Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a
woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound

Okay Nancy, I
I'm surprised that an area that large hasn't had this for years. There sure are a lot of metropolitan areas and some rural areas that do.
Good grief even little old Saint George Utah, population less than 50,000 has full time LE in schools for at least three years.

Nancy...
They do have a point. You post these cut and pasted articles over and over again, but you fail to try to involve anyone in a discussion about them. It sure seems like a waste of space to me considering the gun enthusiast will find all they want to read on the web without filling up this board with it. I'm not trying to be rude here... but you've posted close to forty of these in less than three weeks and most of them have nothing included to generate a reply.
Is there a way you could bring about a discussion instead of just plopping it here and walking away?

What does this have to do with gun laws?
SRO's have been in the 4 schools I have been to for the past 10 years. They are there to handle violence in the schools, threats towards other children, drug education, and as a general person to talk to. All SRO's I have dealt with are like big kids and easy to have a discussion with. They are a RESOURCE-hence the name. This isn't a new concept!

Well DUH Nancy, per your implied response to MY post...why are we wasting public resources placing police in school? Why don't we just add 'self defense weapon' to the school supply list each student is given every fall. Let their parents purchase them guns; faculty and support staff (maintenence, secretaries, lunchroom workers, etc......) can be supplied or not supplied based on the employee benefits program for each school district. Maybe work out a deal with a local gunner retailer for student discounts and group buying discounts.....
What's that you say? No need? ..but a psychopath with a fully-automatic (you gave him the right to have it) is loose in the school massacring children!! Wait....it's not just this lunatic....the kids are using their self defense weapons.....but they're shooting each other! Oh my God...they're panicking!! Where are the police? Huh?? No one called them??? ...all too busy drawing their own weapon?
Is this ludicrous? You bet! Police presence in a school is NOT a vote for stopping gun control! It is utilizing the best resource in a given situation! It is the police doing what they have always done, serving and protecting the public, in a targeted area....I repeat..what the police have ALWAYS done.
As I stated in my first post, I am also against further gun control. In my state, I believe we currently have a ban on the sale of fully automatic and assault weapons. We also have a ban on the sale of 'cop killer' bullets. (Talons?) Background checks are required for the purchase of handguns. Trigger locks are provided free, by several organizations, and STRONGLY recommended (not sure if required yet, I use them anyway) for use on all guns in homes with small children (under 12 years old).
Every child who has completed a 'hunter/gun safety course' does NOT possess the emotional maturity to have free access to a loaded gun! Just as every child who knows how to operate a motor vehicle does not have the emotional maturity to be a safe driver!
Discretion is the part of maturity that allows us to look at 'the big picture'. It allows us to weigh all possible consequences and decide a reasonably accurate probable outcome, then act accordingly. Zealousness or fanaticism, such as yours, displays 'unreasonable enthusiasm'. unreasonable, irrational, unthinking... I join Niteshift in asking you to post YOUR PERSONAL opinions, thoughts, logic... The cut and paste frenzy you've engaged in is pointless. I am sure, if someone were inclined, they could post an equal number of news stories in which gun control could have prevented a tradgedy.
I REPEAT, I am NOT FOR additional gun control, but would like to see full implimentation of current laws, along with a huge dose of personal responsibility on the part of gun owners!

Hey Cuffer, FYI on your trigger locks. I watched a guy at the NRA convention defeat several different brands with only a screwdriver in about 10 seconds each. I'm not saying they are a bad idea, but don't count on them to make a weapon safe.

Your dreaming again, Cuffer.
The anti gunners do not want guns in school at all....

Why don't we just add 'self defense weapon' to the school supply list each student is given every fall. Cuff, your the best ***-umer of all here...
You assume you have the complete protection of the law because of a piece of paper and you ASSume that they don't want your sports shooting weapons..... well, honey don't come runnng to me when they get your sport sooting guns, cause I'll have NO sympathy for YOU at all....
Stop showing your ***!
Is this ludicrous? You bet! Police presence in a school is NOT a vote for stopping gun control! It is utilizing the best resource in a given situation!
------
you BET! I never disagreed with that!
ALL I ever said was I don't like you antigunners using shooting (school or other wise) as an excuse to pass more of your so called gun laws.
========
It is the police doing what they have always done, serving and protecting the public, in a targeted area....I repeat..what the police have ALWAYS done.
trying suing a cop or police dept IF they don't save your ***, Cuff! Trying suing one if they fail to protect you. GOOD LUCK! Courts say that the police have NO CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY TO PROTECT YOU!
=====
As I stated in my first post, I am also against further gun control.
------
yeah no further gun control as long as it does not affect your precious "sporting" guns. Yeah yeah yeah yu keep saying that. Say it loud and long enuff and someone might believe you...
The 2A aint about hunting and sport shooting, Cuff. It's about freedom!
=======
In my state, I believe we currently have a ban on the sale of fully automatic and assault weapons.
------
are you SURE those are REALLY fully automatic assault rifles or semiauto hunting rifles? Do you even know the difference?
==================
We also have a ban on the sale of 'cop killer' bullets.
-----
Some body tell this idiot of a person that all BULLETS KILL COPS! and everyone else too, DUH!
I'd advice you to stop falling for the HCI terms, dear!
==========
(Talons?) Background checks are required for the purchase of handguns.
----
are background checks required on stolen guns or those bought on the black market?
How many criminals do YOU Know go through back ground checks.. Ex spouse are NOT the only criminals we have to deal with , Cuff!
===========
Trigger locks are provided free, by several organizations, and STRONGLY recommended (not sure if required yet,
=========
not sure , huh? How many other things are you "not sure of"?!?!?!?
No they are not mandatory ...yet... Maybe this is a reasonable gun law you wouldn't mind passing???????
The anti gunners have TWICE proven in front of a antigun audience that trigger locks are useless, if you'd only do your home work!. (I'd post the fact here but some folks on this forum don't like facts) in one of the school shooting , the guns were locked away, dern! A twelve yr old boy watched his mom die at the hands of a home invader while sshe was trying to unlock and retreive bullets from another room.. DERN!========
===============
I use them anyway) for use on all guns in homes with small children (under 12 years old).
-----
Why not on those in homes with kids over 12. I thought you said we should trust kids (yours in 15, Right?... with guns even if they have had gun sfety courses... hey while we are at it lets just go all the way and agrre with the anti gun moms that "kids" include up to 19 yr old, so let's just keep them locked away from them too....
Every child who has completed a 'hunter/gun safety course' does NOT possess the emotional maturity to have free access to a loaded gun! Just as every child who knows how to operate a motor vehicle does not have the emotional maturity to be a safe driver!

your irrationalaty will get you and your kids dead, but as I said many times before that's your perogative, it's your *** sis, not mine.
I join Niteshift in asking you to post YOUR PERSONAL opinions, thoughts, logic...
It's a free country, or it used to be, I'll post what I post, if you opr any others do not care to read the facts than don't!

that's your opinion and your welcome to and I will stand and fight for your right to d=say as you wish, until they come get my guns http://www.officer.com/ubb/wink.gif

I am sure, if someone were inclined, they could post an equal number of news stories in which gun control could have prevented a tradgedy.

So let them, I just hope your story is not one of the one where a tragedy could have been prevented! God bless you and your kids!
I REPEAT, I am NOT FOR additional gun control,
AND I REPEAT! REPEAT THAT LONG AND LOUD ENOUGH SOMEONE< EVEN YOU> MIGHT BELIEVE IT>>>
Yeah I know,not as lonf as it doesn't affect your precious "sporting" rifles. Big fat whoopie! It's attitudes of gunowners like yours that have lost us as much freedom as we have.....
but would like to see full implimentation of current laws,

Crime laws , not gun laws.... Gun laws only affect the innocent law abing gunowner and make the criminal proffession a little more safe by supplying UNARMED VICTIMS! and airheads like you think that a piece of paper will keep you safe ROTFLMAO!
