So, I called the gun shop today regarding my Kimber.
Gun Dude: Shooter's Supply
Me: Hi, I'm wondering if you have the Kimber Eclipse Custom II in stock.
Gun Dude: Let me check... right now we have some of the compact models and a Custsom Target II.
Me: Well could you order me one?
Gun Dude: Sure, but we can't call them till Monday.
Me: That's fine... um, say... do you offer Law Enforcement a discount?
Gun Dude: Yes Ma'am we do.
Me: Excellent!!!
Soon.... soon it will be mine!!!!!!!!!

I've been debating a Kimber CDP, but I figure at this point I'll go all out and get a Wilson Combat...What's an extra $800.00? :D
In any case, let me know how it works out for you, especially the dreaded "Series II" safety.

I've owned Colts, Kimbers, Springfields and custom-built 1911s. Not sure WHY, but the Springfields are more to my liking in 1911s. Due to my recurrent wrist problem any future 1911s will HAVE to be of the 9MM persuasion. :(

bah!!!!
I know how to shoot! And no ivory grips for me.
My grips are this cool black and silver that Kimber offers.

Congrats !!! You've been waiting along time for this baby !!! I went to the 'baby' store today, one of my babies was recalled back to the factory. :( I'm thinking my other precious is going to be far too lonely and I might need to buy it another companion !! (I'm sick, I know, I must be, no sane person would refer to their firearms as babies? right? ).... :D I wonder how long it will be until you want ANOTHER one.

Lemme tell ya girl, this has been a long time coming. I'm sure I'll get all teary eyed and the Gun Dude will make fun of me or some such.
Another thing that will be so cool for me:
*ring ring*
Piper's Daddy: Hello?
Piper: Hey it's your daughter. (I always say that... heh.)
Piper's Daddy: What's up?
Piper: Let's me and you go to the range.
Piper's Daddy: You want me to bring you the 45 or 40?
Piper: Neither dad, I bought my first gun. :)

She's going to become an addict
This is just the first step on the "slippery slope" toward gun ownership. Next, she'll have to have a shotgun to "round out" or balance the arsenal, then she'll have to have another handgun, probably a BUG, or CCW type.
Oh, no! then she'll have to buy a rifle, so she'll have the "reach out and touch someone" capability.

I hope you enjoy it, Piper. I know you've been wanting this for a long time.
Be careful, and be safe....

Just don't try to go to Ray's...It's no longer open! No indoor ranges around here anymore.

I go to Ft. Knox for shooting. During the winter the range is closed though. ::sigh::

I got my mind off buying guns today, I took a porsche for a test drive... hmm... maybe it's time for that new car. I think I can actually even afford it too !! :D (it's the cheap model/used).

Congrats Piper!
Don't knock ivory grips, I am thinking of buying a pair with an eagle or naked woman, putting them on then going to our range. I want to see the instructors have coronaries.

quote:
Man, I'd kill for a black 1911.....

I was disgusted with Kimber last year when they discontinued the basic compact; the only officer's frame, 4'' 1911 they had in black.
The Wilson Combat I'm looking at right now comes green frame/black slide, but if I'm going to pay $1800 for a custom gun, I'm gonna ask for the whole thing in Mil-spec parkerizing, black.
I'm still having a hard time justifying that kind of money...I'm not so good a shot that 1'' at 25 yards is gonna matter to me, and all I want is reliability in a 1911 package. Frankly, if Piper's Kimber has no problems (I want a range report young lady! ) I'll settle for the Kimber, and put the rest of the money on credit cards and customizing the Kimber...
I'm with you, though Shooter. As much as I love the look of the Eclipse, a gun ought to be black, especially for carry. I've walked out the door with black pants, black shirt, black holster, and black Beretta and walked down the street (open carry is legal in NH) and no-one has ever noticed.
Underneath a coat, I never worry about "flashing."
Anyway, congrats again Piper...and I wasn't kidding about that range report! :)

Sgt. Dave:
I figured with a Nick like "Shooter" he wouldn't be talking about a car in the firearms section. I'm sure he'll let us know.
