well one covers 2 sq miles while the other covers 22. what advice do you want? are you an academy grad? i dont think fullerton sends pre service apps through an academy that often. they usually send their cadets to the fullerton college police academy as reserves and hire them full time when they graduate.

This is hearsay from someone who knows someone else, but the word is La Palma is very small and very political. Also heard that they dont write residents of that city tickets, just people passing through...but I did hear its a pleasant place to work.

I recently applied there because its closest to where I live. Just wanted to have some incite on the department.
How often do they fill positions?
Is it difficult to get into this department?
Does the department take care of their own?
What are the pros and cons of this department?
Any advice or info on this department would be most appreciated.
Thanks
Anthony

la palma is very small. they rarely hire since someone has to retire or quit. they do have cameras in all their cars, ar15, etc. they just remodeled their dept. they have the mobile command vehicle for the North county swat. it is difficult to get on. you pretty much have to be lateral, or academy grad. the last time they hired was last fall and they hired 2. i believe they only had like 10 applications and interviewed like 2 or 3 peoples. i used to be an explorer there a while ago. it's a very safe community with not much going on. they pay isn't the best. i'd recommend you going to fullerton with better pay and more activities. also look at buena park or garden grove.
