I have my written test for RPD on tuesday, I have read alot here about the department and very exicted about it. They wouldn't take my CHP POST test but I'm sure i will do fine.
Anyone else going to be there?

I just put in my app today. Have they said how many trainees they're looking to pick up? Thanks

The agency is down between 6 and 8 officers at this time and is looking at losing a few more due to retirement. So, there is a good chance at quite a few new officers being picked up.

No I've done RSO, Ontario, and San Bernardino city. Did you do the RSO at Ben Clark or the 200 questions at testing center? How do you think you did today? Have you studied the packet for Rialto? PM me if you want to study this weekend before the test.

I think I did ok for RSD today, I applied for correction deputy too, I kinda hope I get that so I can maybe get hired a little faster and after a couple years I can go through the 23week acadmey(not saying if I get far in the deputy sheriff im going to turn it down) any ept I get picked up by I will be thrilled.

Rialto PD has had bad luck the last few academies with their trainees. They had one never show up for day 1 and another quit soon after he/she started.

Alot of folks just see a paycheck( Wow! I'm only making $35 to 50K/yr and the "lousy cop" makes $70-$90K just to "ride around") Then too you add the "police academy" mentality to it - anyone who remembers the original movie, should remember that the job in that movie was soo crummy, they literally LOWERED the standards so that ANYONE who showed up,got the job ! Its a sad reality that alot of PDs have civie mgm't,even internal mgm't that don't see their officers in any better light, and the only focus is on getting the pretty poster folks and egghead accountants/engineers who NEED to pay their bills, but aren't concerned about "serving" their fellow man - NOT people who are "qualified" and willing to do the less "pretty" parts of the job(me? I'd be hiring construction workers, waitresses, reformed gang members, and soldiers/military folks- the very people used to rough stuff and frustration/hard work).
Unfortunately for all you old timers and you guys who are trying to get on the job, these "I'm smarter than the avg working person,so I kow i can do this lowly cop job" types come onto the job- people like these don't like the idea of a rigid training regimen, and their egos( I'm too smart for this) coupled with their lack of preparation physically and mentally, amke them walk away from the challenge.not everyone can wear a badge-and NOT everyone should try, so prepare yourselves...

WOW Never Ever ever would I do that. NEVER GIVE UP! That's how I live and since i've been trying to get into this for the last 5 years I think I can kinda show that I haven't. I just would love to get in with rialto they seem to be squared away and a great bunch of guys and gals to work with.

Great point DOA. It really saddens me that admins are going for this and you know the i'm smart type people get through by overly analyzing the process and saying what the hiring admins want to hear.

I don't know what to call you any more DOA. Is it Chief or Future President of the USA or what is it now?
SBPD is rough even for applicants. I am still waiting for the interviews that they said they were going to schedule back in feburary and when last checked with they still hadn't scheduled them. I read in the sun the other day that council has denied funding for 6 positions which are 3 SGT's and 3 LT's and the department is reorganizing. Now i know what the word means specifically but in this case i think it means "hiring freeze cause were broke". Hope not too long to wait the storm out.
Now to not hijack my own thread does anyone know if the written is weighted or if it's pass/fail? I was the first one done and felt confident in my answers until i got my 72% result. Usually i do much better academically. How did everyone else do?

It cracks me up that nobody ever mentions Colton PD. They have the best toys of any IE department. They deal with the same people that SBPD and RIalto Pd does. CPD is sandwiched in between the two. Not to mentioned that the 10 and 215 meet in Colton, makeing everybody want to jump on the freeway and run. The call volume there is way less than SBPD giving their guys LOTS of time to play.

Colton would be awesome if they hired anyone and put trainees through but they aren't hiring anyone for a while according to HR.

According to a buddy of mine at Colton PD, they seem to have been taking mostly laterals recently. I guess they get alot of guys from R.S.O. The more desirable agencies usually get more laterals than trainees. The problem with this is that these agencies tend to have tons of guys who think they are the s**t. Alot of lone cowboys doing their own thing. Kind of a hard environment for a boot to be introduced to law enforcement in.
