Redondo Beach PD.

+ The first in the nation to institute a ATV-based beach patrol;
+ The first in California to adopt aerodynamic siren/light bars;
+ The first agency in California to formulate, create, and join a multi-jurisdictional communication center (The South Bay Regional Communication Center-SBRCC).
+ One of the very first small agencies to adopt a K-9 program ("Bishop" and I can't remember the other German Shepherd's name. Bishop had an 800 lbs per square inch bite strength!!)

In fact, LAPD came out and studied and then based their MDT in-car computers on Redondo Beach's set up. Of course I'm certain LAPD would never mention that.

Quite the standard-bearer for many years for so small an agency!
