Any truth to the idea of Costa Mesa PD prepping other agency recruits and trainees for the Orange County Sheriffs academy?

I doubt Costa Mesa would do that, but I don't know for sure. But if you want to get an idea of what it's like, Santa Ana College started two classes last week that take place at the OCSA. One's a PT class, and the other is Pre-Academy Preparation class. I believe it's not too late to sign up, and the fees are very nominal.

Yes, it is true, Costa Mesa has a pre-academy that is 2 weeks before the start of OCSA. Santa Ana sends their recruits there as well. It will prepare you well for OCSA.

A lot of other agencies have their own pre-academy....Garden Grove, Anaheim..just to name a couple.

Yeah, but the question is (if I understand it correctly), will Costa Mesa accept recruits from other agencies into its pre-academy training? That was the part I was doubting.

I dont know about Costa Mesa but GGPD might. We will screen you, but I know we have done it. We have used it as a way to see if we want to hire you. At least we have in the past. And really, since we are doing it already for our guys, its free to us. You would have to call our personell folks to find out how to join up. I dont even know if we are sending anyone to that class and that would certainly be factor. i know that sometimes we do it for one guy and would welcome company to make it better. I bet Costa Mesa has the same experience. My point being, never hurts to ask.

Santa Ana has an agreement with Costa Mesa to send their recruits over. I don't think they'll take you on without the other agency's consent. I would imagine there would be liability issues.

The pre-academy is a work day. You are not there on your own time...you are paid to be there.
