I know this question was asked recently, but it was never answered. I am hoping someone out there knows the answer.
If a deputy finishes probation in the jails or courts and then goes out to patrol....what happens if he doesnt pass the FTO program?? Im primarily interested in RSO policies regarding this issue.
Thanks.

You'll be staying in the jails and court. Whether or not you get another chance to go through FTO at a later date is up to the agency.

Not sure how RSO works, but you get two chances to make it off field training with LASD.....
2nd failure results in either termination, or demotion to Custody Assistant.....

At RSO, when someone rolls it up on patrol they're usually sent back to the jail as a Correctional Deputy (non-sworn). They are not given a second chance unless they start the entire sworn hiring process over. I've seen, however, people roll it up thinking they'll work the jail only to see themselves let go from the department altogether. The latter is very rare nowadays since we're hiring a lot of bodies.
