Well, last week I bought my first 1911. I say my first because boy do I love that gun.

I have two Glocks (22/27) love them. Never had a single problem, wouldn't trade them for the world.

Held a 1911 for the first time and was infatuated. Bought the Custom all matte black, black grips, hmmm did I like the look of the Glocks, must have carried over.

Put 150 rounds through it this evening and I have to say, I am very very happy. I can't describe it in any other way than, ssssmmmooooooootthh.

I had one failure to feed on a training round of Winchester ammo. The round got hung up in the chamber, rack the slide and in it went. I have read where hollow points should not be used and smooth rounds should. The Winchester kind of has a flat nose. Not sure if this was a problem, occurred on second mag and no further.

Now I am not about to throw away my Glocks, I always want to carry one on duty, but off duty and to shoot at the range, off I trot with my 1911.

Your Kimber SHOULD feed ANYthing you put into the mags...including HPs. For Kimber to say your gun shouldn't be fed HPs is NUTS. Run around 250-500 rounds of FMJ through it THEN see if you have any probs with HPs. You shouldn't. Also...use QUALITY mags(Mec-Gar, MetalForm, Wilson, Les Baer, etc). STAY CLEAR of the el cheapo 'USGI mags' if you want to avoid headaches.

Thanks for the advice Shooter. I have two Kimber mags, the 7 round that came with and an 8 round. not sure what caused the FTF. Like I said, it functioned fine after that.

Geesh, so what your saying is I have to shoot it some more. Well, okay if I gotta I will, talk about hard duty, ha.

Shooter and anyone else. What kind of loads would you recommend shooting during the breakin period and carry.

Winchester 'white box' from WallyWorld, Sellier and Bellot($9/bx locally), whatever the 'cheapest' you can find is. There is NO 'bad' commercially loaded .45ACP ammo on the market.

FWIW, the Winchester 230 grain JHP 'Personal Defense' .45ACP that WallyWorld sells for $16/bx of 50 is GOOD STUFF. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
