"The filing period for the CO/YCO/YCC will be closed after June 30, 2008 and is anticipated to reopen on January 5, 2009."
It looks like positions are filled... what does this mean for us already applied and in the system?

I think we are still going to be processed they just cant stop hiring officers they got peaple getting fired peaple retiring and peaple just resigning because they got other jobs in other law enforcement agencys. Corrections is the officers revolving door and cdcr is building more medical facilities.

They will stil process you, but noone will go to academy untill the release date of the hiring freeze. They have done this before, and it is stupid. The last hiring freeze lasted over a year, and is the reason we are so understaffed now. They will continue with processing up to academy assignment...that will wait untill they end the freeze. good luck..you will be at the front of the list when they start hiring again. NV, the turnover rate in CDCR is very low, very few leave the job other than to retire....and yes, more medical facilities are on the way, hopefully this will end the hiring freeze.

So is January 2009 the end of the hiring freeze or is that just when they will start taking applications again?
I just applied with CDCR and receive notification that my Scoring Category Worksheet (SCW) was 90. This gets me to the written test in July. My understanding is that if I pass, I will then get a physical agility date.
sgt809, I'm new to the CDCR world and have some other questions; do you mind PMing me?

Barkalot, you won't have to worry about what's going on now. You take the written test next month and you have a 90 score. By the time you clear everythng, all of this will have passed anyway.

Thanks for then info.
Just so I'm clear, someone else told me the PAT is just basically a heart stress type test like riding a bicycle?
Also, what time frame are we looking at here for appointment to the academy? Will prior LE experience be helpful in getting processed more quickly? What about knowing people in CDCR?

From what I've seen it's taking 1 to 1.5 years. It's been about 1.5 years for me and I cleared by background last month.. just waiting on an oral psyhc.
