Was watching NYPD 24/7 before and noticed at a barricade job the ESU were at that there were precinct Sgt's there one had a white shirt with the Sgt Chevrons and one had the usual navy blueshirt with Sgt Chevrons. Why the differnent colour shirts?

Here Sgt, LT, and higher have both white and blue shirts they can wear either shirt. most wear the blue unless its hot as hell out. they wear the white for most police funtions. they used to have to wear white but they complained that it was bad for officer saftey at night cause the wear very visible.

Yeah, they put Sergeants into white shirts for a while and they didn't care for it. Officer safety was an issue. Besides being very visible at night, how is a patrol supervisor supposed to safely eat a chicken parm hero while wearing a white shirt? The tomato sauce really shows on those white shirts!
