Does anyone know anything about this agency. Found them kind of randomly, did a little searching on the forums and the web but the only thing that I've been able to establish is that they are a private police force responsible for the harbors. Any info would be apprciated.

Didn't even realize they had their own police force. I always thought that was the place you went to for applying to be a longshoreman:confused:

I believe they do the background work for the longshoremen. They have powers in both states, them and the NYCHRR Police. Can barely find any info on them as well, dont even know if they still exist. These are the two agencies that I know of that have bi-state powers outside of PAPD.

NYCHRR no longer has a police department. As far as the Waterfront commission goes, as long as you have a good hook, then you will get in.
There main mission was to route out corruption within the longshoremen and also to keep the mob out of the waterfront.
Also they are all titled "detective".

I know someone that retired from there. Good gig. They go to the academy in Jersey and have police powers in NY and NJ. Also you are called a detective right out of the academy. I don't believe there is a test just on a resume and interview basis only they hire. Somewhat political.

No clue but im curious now how much pay is and all that stuff. I forgot all about this but i remember a couple of years ago he told me to give him my resume whenever im ready. I was still in school so didnt think much of it but after seeing this post it has got me real curious. I know he is retiring soon if he has not already so im not sure how much pull he would have after, or if he would even be willing to help me out.

How long do you think they would take to call back someone or keep a resume on file?

I was at the fleet week detail and met a WCPD officer and talked with him for a while. He said the WCPD is very political, dept. is about 70 guys in total, you take a chief's test to get in, so you have to know someone. Starting pay is 30, goes to 75 after 10 years. They do work in NYC, mostly Brooklyn. He said he is very bored with it though, and is considering joining the NYPD.
