yes, they won't start processing until September-October of 2008, you can even start the hiring process as late as December and still make the January class but I wouldn't recommend it.

You can try to make the July 2008 class if you can.
There is a free walking in exam in Manhattan.

Monday & Fridays & Saturdays- 10am & 2pm
Tuesday & Wednesday & Thursday- 10am & 2pm & 7pm
2 lafayette street- 17th floor, NY,NY 10007

If you take the test this week you might make the July class.

The NYPD has an academy every January and every July.

I took the walk-in exam on 5/22. Still didn't hear anything from APD. Called and was told to wait for the letter. I'm guessing my chances of making July are slim to none.

naw, you still have 4weeks until the academy, if anything you can go in as a backfill. call the candidate help desk. ask to see if they got a list and exam number.

I called earlier last week and gave them my exam number. No dice. I was told flat out to wait for a letter to start processing.

Give them a call again towards the end of this week. did they give you the background packet at the test?

No background packet. All I received was my score based on the proposed answer key.

I'm scheduled to take the NYPD exam this Saturday, though its a bit down on my preference list for police departments. We'll see how it goes, got plenty of time to figure it out and gotta keep the options open.

I'm originally from NY. Came down here for school and ended up staying.

I took exam 5046 back in Feb 06 ... did the medical and oral & written psych ... I tried to pick up where I left off but the APD told me that I had to start the process all over again.

So here we go again.

I don't think you have to take the test again, I'm being hired of a 2004 test.

I was told I had to because my psych was discontinued.

It's no big deal though ... I get to start fresh and I already know what to expect.
