I have the new Ruger LCP as a backup and have a GALCO Belly Band around the outside of my vest near my chest. Works pretty good for me, but if you are getting a really heavy gun, you may find it to slide down as you chase after someone. You can also get velcro and secure it better to the vest, but my LCP is not heavy enough for that problem.

Seems a bit impractical. Just curious as where everyone keeps their back up firearm?

Is that uncomfortable to wear it on your vest like that? Do you feel the weight? Does it rub your arm? Can you actually access it when you need to?

I carry the Ruger LCP... Its a great, extremely accurate .380 (7 rounds) As far as where I carry it.. Be creative... I agree that it is not the best idea to post that here as there is no confirmation that we are who we say we are.

They make a holster that is leather and actually straps on using the vest straps. Used one for years.

Carry more than one! they do.

I don't like the vest type of carry. One of my guys got in a fight one night with a 250lb methhead. The methhead got the better of him and straddled him pinning his arms to his side. He was unable to get to his duty and also unable to get to his backup while this guy was choking him to death. Lucky for him another officer rolled up and did a tap dance on his head with a 3 D cell MagLight.
