Curious to see, you parents with kids involved in sports how much you pay for them to play? And how much you have to pay for their uniforms, etc........
Our daughter was just selected to a travel soccer team (she's 10). The fee is $800 and that does not include tournament fees (there are 6 of them out of town). We also will be paying just over $200 for uniform and equipment. So by August we've got to plunk down $1000. Granted, we signed up for this but I feel that I reserve the right to complain a little. :) Hopefully she'll get a soccer scholarship in 8 years.

My sister and her husband pay about 5K per year for her son to be in a travel hockey league. Perhaps he too will get a scholarship and they won't have to pay for college; a topic I raised in another thread. As for our kids, my stepdaughter wasn't into sports and the little one is three. I plan to get her into softball and soccer so I'll know when the time comes.
Good luck.

Between indoor/outdoor soccer leagues for both kids, baseball, football and winter/summer league basketball and cheerleading I easily spend upwards of $1200 a year. They need new cleats, uniforms and equipment every year. Then if they make the All Star team I have to shell out more dough for that uniform. Its also battle when my kid wants the $90 Under Armour cleats and I get the less expensive brands. :D
I don't have kids but I can tell you what my mom spent. I did high school rodeo and if you count the truck and trailer and horses she spent well over 150k on my 4yrs of rodeo.

For my 2 boys to play football it costs approx. $1,000.00 a season and for my daughter to cheer for a regular season it's approx $ 2,000.00 If she goes on to to all the different competitions after the season it costs another 1-2k not counting hotel costs. I wish it was cheaper, but I would pay twice as much if I had to. Well worth every penny !!!!

I pay $75 a month for my son's martial arts classes. The first month was $125 and included his Ghee. We just bought a Katana for $25. I am dreading when he actually starts with edged weapons, those can be over a $1000 for a good one. We also go backpacking (I call it a sport) packs run about $120 for a good one, and replacing his hiking shoes every six months runs about $110 Throw in food, equipment, and the paid in my back from dragging the dog along it's probably a couple grand a year. I count myself lucky with the martial arts though. Relatively cheap compared to football, hockey, or soccer and I can practice with him.
