Thanks to all those that have posted all the great info on here.
I started this thread for those of us in the QUEST program...that may be a bit lost as to this whole process. I am going to New York the 9th-12th. I understand that I'll be doing the JST and Psych and all that in one fell swoop, but how does everything work i.e. getting paperwork that I'm still waiting on...well basically how will the QUEST experience go. I've gotten a good idea from reading all the regular threads but not much info as to QUEST. Any former or current QUEST'ers info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

so wait? Not to be mean and all but NYPD is goni to do all this between June 9th and July9th...withbackground psychological etc etc? I mean most police departments take about 6+ more months to do a background even if they don't have much to background. It was funny when i went to my BI for NYPD he didn't even have his own company...all he had was a desk with a phone. They all had to shaer a computer on a different floor. Poor guys how can they do there job properly without having the right equipment

WTH, where did you go? My BI had his own comp and so did every other BI in on that floor. Your BI goes on for 2years, if they find something that you didn't tell them they will just tell you to resign.

Multiple people were most-way through the academy (5+ months in) and got called to go to their background investigators this week. Some just had to turn in paperwork that had gotten lost, and some had caught things that made the candidate not qualified to be hired and they were asked to resign.
The sad part is that most of the things people got in trouble for were NOT auto disqualifiers. Because they were caught omitting things, thats what did it. TELL THE TRUTH. If you don't all the time and effort you put in may be for nothing.
As far as the quest guy - if you have paperwork you are waiting on just talk to your BI when you are there and explain your situation. He/she will tell you how to forward the paperwork as it becomes available. If its stuff like transcripts that they just need to have in your file before you are hired, they take those up until a few days before the academy. If you are too slow, there is always backfill 2-3 weeks later.

I plan on taking the NYPD test in the fall and I would have to do the QUEST program because I live in upstate NY which is roughly 4 and a half hours away from NYC. I always ask people what the physical requirements were and everybody that I have asked said that you have to complete the JST, however when I was reading the PDF file for the Quest program it says you also have to complete a 1.5 mile run. So I'm a little confused if this is a new thing or what...Well I guess I'll just call a recruiter and ask.

I think they threw out the 1.5mile run for entrance requirements...if someone else could verify this?

1.5 mile run has been out for a while. You need it to get through the academy though.

I was out of state for this class.
There was no 1.5 mile run for entrance or attached with the JST anywhere.
That said I suggest that you start a conditioning routine ASAP as you will need some type of minimum conditioning to finish the JST in the required time.
Yes, you will have to pass a 1.5 mile run with a minimum time to graduate.
So to make your whole transition from civilian life easier, START GETTING IN SHAPE.
Military.com has a man called Stew Smith who publishes various training routines for passing tests. Stew is a very nice guy, grad USNA, former Navy SEAL and likes to help.
