Cleveland PD Interviews.

So I passed the agility test (harder than it initially appeared) and am on to the interview on July 8th. Anyone else going that day?

Anyone have any insights as to what it will be like or any tips?

It's not really a true "interview". You''ll come in with your PHQ and go over it with an officer. They will pretty much go over it with a fine tooth comb, ask you any questions they have. If anything looks out of the ordinary, you'll need to elaborate more on a seperate sheet they provide to you. All in all, it was only about a 10-15 minute chat session with the officer for me ( I didn't have anything that warranted a second look i.e tickets, arrests, etc). You'll also get fingerprinted and photographed. The whole thing should take no more than an hour.

Did they lead on at all as to when you could potentially be hired? I'm guessing it would either be the Fall 08 or Winter 09 class they have been talking about.....

O and most important, be patient with the background.... It takes a very, very long time to get done.

August is the next academy.

By very long time, how long are you talking?

If the interview is July 8th and the academy starts in August (my civil service rank is high enough to be called in the first group) thats not much time.
Went through one in Vegas that took 5 months!

I'm sure my "chat" will be longer than 10-15 minutes. I unlike alot of people on here seem to have, haven't "walked on water"! LOL

Well, after going through the 3 month background investigation, I've received my conditional offer of employment from the City of Cleveland! I guess now there are some decisions to be made.... Should I leave the $50k yr job to do what I have always wanted to do.....

Cleveland is a 50k/yr job. Actually I believe raises are coming so it will go up!!

I had my interview back in March. They called in about 60 people for the class that will be starting on August 26th.

So then I wonder what kind of time frame those interviewing now, including myself face?

I heard there was going to be another class starting in September.

I've heard from a reliable source within the PD that they will have the August 26th class and then another starting in December. My guess is you'd fall into that December class....

I had my interview on july 8th just like you did. And the Sgt who interviewed me told me I prob wouldent be picked for the Aug class do to my rank, but that id be in the next one. Which he said wont be till the end of march or begining of Apr. So its just a waiting game till spring a guess!

Every one seems to have a different story. I actually got called on June 26 and they said they wanted to speed up the process. So I had to come in and have my interview on July 2 instead of July 8th.

The Detective I interviewed with said that if I'm chosen (God willing) I would be in the academy starting in December.

They started on my background immediatley, I only know this because the Detective doing my background called me the very next week to come in an clarify some information on my PHS.

I have heard a lot of different things from a lot of different people. But the detective told me I would know one way or the other by the begining of September.

Ya I get a diff story from every one to. Prob the rerason for that is bcuz their not even sure whats gonna happen. Things change so much in this whole process that there not even 100% sure of what could happen. They have alot of people to go through and alot of them get eliminated from the background invest, so things are always changing. I dont really care how long i have to wait, as long as i get on. I put everything on hold for this so i have alot riding on gettin in!
