Hey. I haven't posted in these forums for over a year.

Anyways.. Last June I met with BI, and my BI told me to call in a couple of days to confirm that I should move into NYC, My BI was waiting on the psych results. I called in a couple of days and my BI told me to still wait. I called up the candidate relations desk, and they told me that I had cleared psych. I called up my BI again and was told my investigation was "ongoing".

Afterwards, I got called for the mini-med, I went to it, and passed. About 5 months went by with no new info from my BI. I then got another letter in Dec 2007, asking me to come for another mini-med. I went to that. I called my BI again to update my file(as instructed by the mini-med letter). My BI told me still the investigation was ongoing. I pressed the issue slightly, but I got no farther.

So, now its may 2008, and I get another letter to report for a mini-med. I call up my BI again, and get pushed off, my BI promised multiple times to call back, but has not.

My question is: Does anybody have a clue as to what is going on? The BI isn't supposed to take this long? And, what should I do? should I call up the supervising Sgt? I'm just looking for a clear answer. I would be happier with a simple rejection letter, if that were the case, rather than being pushed offf, with no answer.

Thx.

-a confused applicant.

Yeah, if I were you I would call the Sgt. I would do it in the most non-offensive way possible. But they do tell you to call their sup if you do not get through with your BI.

Wow...talk about bad miscommunication. Your BI obviously forgot about you OR your investigation is really taking this long and you have to wait. Remember, the investigation can take up to 2 years so for you, 1 year has pass so maybe wait another year? good luck

I have an appointment with my BI this thursday.. Do I find out if I passed that day or do I have to wait? This is the last step in my application process. What are some things that would stop a person from passing the BI?

Some things that would stop you from passing... lets see, lying that you got 60 credits when in fact u got only 50, going to your address that you listed and your not actually there or in a different address, a (really) ugly credit history? put unspecified moving violations, an expired drivers license... meh just some things i can think of for now

So you've been basically waiting a year right? That's really strange. I've heard of people getting in within 2 months.

If you are being held up on the BI front there are way too many things that could go wrong so its impossible to speculate what could be going on.

I agree with NY08PD. If you don't hear from your BI in a reasonable amount of time call their Sgt. I had a lot of trouble getting in touch with my BI.

Because the department is so short staffed they get flown to a lot of details, they also do some investigation of candidates (going to their homes, etc) and they can be investigating way more than a "few" candidates at once. All those things lead up to the fact that it tends to be pretty difficult to get in touch with them.

Good luck with the process.

Well, thx for the advice. I will probably call the Sgt. I just found it to be so odd, that a year ago my BI was so gung ho certain that I should move right away. But, now my BI is almost ignoring me.

I'm seeing the BI can take a while or they can happen really quick. Thats why I'm going down this tuesday to reopen my case because 2 different people I spoke to at candidate services assured me that if I get the ball rolling tuesday I can make in for the July academy. I'm still having trouble believing it but we will see.

I know someone who started the hiring process in late December of 2007 for the Jan 2008 class, she made it in on time just fine.

What do you mean by ugly credit history? there are 2 types of bad credit. Good Bad credit and bad bad credit.

I know plenty of people who got on in the NYPD with credit histories that weren't the best

I'm sure you meant 2008. Hopefully it can move that fast for me. I have about 7 weeks to do this.
